Evil
Raised in a family of Roman Catholic faith, belief in Satan and evil was a shadow on everyday life. I have always had a fascination with the story of the poor soul who crossed the boss and paid the ultimate price, to suffer forever in hell.
God it seems, is not such a lovely chap after all, but rather an insufferable ubiquitous totalitarian. Can you imagine the shock Satan experienced, a beautiful young angel boy cast from the celestial utopia into a dark abyss for all eternity.
I can’t help but wonder if this version of events is bit of heavenly spin to dictate the narrative. Is it possible, instead, that this beautiful looking boy angel decided to go it alone? Not content with an eternity of mass and propitiation, had come to the conclusion, to quote my brother in law Gassan:
“Better to be a king in hell, than a slave in heaven”.
Try and imagine the immense bravery demanded of him, standing at the edge of the heavenly event horizon and take the step on principal alone. It makes more sense to honour Lucifer for laying the ground work for a life of free thinking, creative, curious enquiry.
