About

My work is hand created using traditional relief printing techniques. The materials I use have been carefully chosen and are of the highest quality ensuring the longevity of each print.

I mostly print on Kozo which is a traditional Japanese paper chosen for its exceptional beauty, print quality and conservation attributes. The lustrous quality of oil based Cranfield etching inks give prints a gravity and depth of meaning. As well as being organic, Silk Cut Lino which is produced in France, allows for full expression of movement when working the material which beautifully translates on the page.

The printing press and brayer I use have been hand made by Fitzroy Etching Presses in Melbourne. They are amazing quality, beautiful to look at and make the printing process feel important and special.

When I frame the work, I repurpose found timber salvaged from unwanted furniture, garbage or demolition sites. The timbers are mostly sourced from locally harvested hard wood which means they are beautiful and very strong. I mill and route all the timber myself and embrace the Japanese aesthetic principles of wabi-sabi working with the beauty in natural imperfections. I incorporate rusty nail holes, stains, wear and tear and the patina from its former life in the finished frames. All of the framing materials are conservation grade and of the highest quality ensuring each framed print will last deep in time.
